Some nights, the words come before I even decide to write them down.
This is the way art poured out one particular night — a peeking of the soul onto a dark ‘paper,’ as I wrote it at the time. Poetry has always been one of the quieter corners of my creative practice, tucked in beside the camera work but built from the same instinct: to notice something true and try to hold onto it before it passes.
This is the way art poured out tonight. A peeking of the soul onto a dark ‘paper.’
I don’t share writing like this often, but it comes from the same place as every photograph I take — an attempt to see clearly and render it honestly, whether the medium is a camera or a page. It’s part of what shapes the way I look at light, story, and people when I’m behind the lens.
If you’re curious about the person behind the camera, I hope this small piece offers a window into it.
Writing comes easier somewhere quiet. I keep an artist residency in Joshua Tree for exactly that kind of stretch.

Yes — personal writing, like these short poems, is part of Lindsey’s broader creative practice alongside her photography.
