Strange Bikinis in Bali: A Sanur Swimwear Shoot

Bali has a way of getting under your skin, and Sanur — the quieter side of the island, away from the tourist crush — is where I fell hardest for it.

A little piece of the jungle

My Airbnb in Sanur felt like its own private world: tucked into the green, blissfully far from the tourist crowds, the kind of place that makes you want to stay in your swimsuit and not much else. So that’s exactly what I did, lounging around the property for an afternoon in one of Strange Bikini’s handmade pieces — easy, sun-soaked, unhurried.

Behind the shoot

This one was a full solo production: I modeled, styled, and edited, while photographer Pat Black worked behind the camera to make the most of the afternoon light and that jungle backdrop. It’s one of my favorite kinds of days on the road — no rigid plan, just good light, a beautiful piece, and a place worth pointing a camera at.
