Manchester’s city center turned out to be a genuinely charming way to spend a layover. There isn’t a massive amount to do in just a few hours downtown, but I managed to fit in a serious amount of shopping and still had time to stop for tea and breakfast at a local tea cafe — exactly the kind of low-key, wander-and-see travel day I love.
