This cord cutting meditation is for when someone hurt you and you can’t seem to put it down. Maybe they betrayed you, or left, or just took up way more room in your head than they ever deserved. You keep replaying it. You rehearse conversations that are never going to happen.
I made this for the part of you that’s ready to be done with that. Find somewhere quiet, get comfortable, and take it slowly.
A lot of people hear “forgiveness” and brace, because it sounds like you’re supposed to say it was fine. It wasn’t. So to be really clear about what this practice is asking of you:
In this meditation, forgiveness is simply the decision to stop letting their choices live inside your nervous system. You can forgive someone and never speak to them again.
The idea of an energetic cord shows up in a lot of spiritual traditions. It’s the sense that you’re still tied to someone long after the relationship, or the moment, is over. Whether you take that literally or as a metaphor, most of us know the feeling. Some part of your attention is still stuck on them.
This practice walks you through noticing that tie, handing back what was never yours to carry, and calling your energy back into your own body. It’s quiet and gentle. There’s nothing dramatic you have to do.
Press play again when you notice you’re:
You might need it more than once. Letting go tends to happen in layers, and that’s normal.
This meditation is for reflection and emotional support. It isn’t therapy, medical advice, or a replacement for professional help. If you’re in crisis or feel unsafe, please contact emergency services or a mental health professional right away.
It’s a guided visualization for releasing an emotional or energetic attachment to someone, usually after a painful relationship or a hurt you keep reliving.
No one can make you. In this practice, forgiveness just means you stop letting what they did run your inner life. It doesn’t mean it was okay, and it doesn’t mean you owe them anything.
Not necessarily. It’s about your attachment to the hurt. Whether you stay in contact is a separate decision, and it’s yours to make.
As often as you need to. Some people do it once. Others come back to it every time the old feelings come up.
Yes. You don’t have to feel calm first. Anger is allowed to be there while you practice.
Drink some water. Get outside if you can. If it stirred things up, that’s okay. It usually means something is moving. There are more guided meditations on my YouTube channel whenever you need one.
