There’s a specific kind of quiet that only shows up when you fall asleep to waves and wake up to them too.

One night, two days, no rush

I spent one night and two days camping right on the beach at Edisto Island State Park, and it was exactly the kind of low-key reset I needed. No real agenda beyond salt air, sand between my toes, and a camera close by for whenever the light got good.

Shot simple: one body, one lens

I kept the gear minimal for this trip — my Canon 5D Mark III paired with a 50mm lens, edited afterward in Lightroom. There’s something about limiting yourself to one lens on a trip like this that forces you to slow down and really look at what’s in front of you instead of chasing the next angle.

If a stretch of South Carolina coastline with a tent and a camera sounds like your kind of weekend, Edisto Island State Park is well worth the trip.
