Kristi & Brian’s Sedona Wedding Among the Red Rocks

Kristi and Brian brought their family and friends to one of their favorite places on earth — Sedona, Arizona — to say "I do" surrounded by red rock cliffs and desert sky. They were kind enough to bring me along to capture it.

A destination built on love for the place

Sedona wasn’t a random choice for this couple, it’s somewhere they already loved, which made the whole weekend feel less like a wedding shoot and more like getting invited into a place that already meant something to them. That kind of personal connection to a location always changes the way I shoot; there’s a rootedness to it that comes through in every frame.

Genuine love, genuine friendships

What struck me most about Kristi and Brian’s wedding day was how real everything felt. The love between them, and the friendships surrounding them, was the kind of easy, obvious thing that doesn’t need staging — I just had to be ready with my camera.

Shooting in the red rocks

Sedona’s landscape does a lot of the work for a photographer — dramatic red rock formations, big open sky, and light that turns gold fast in the evening. It’s one of my favorite backdrops for a destination wedding, and this couple made the most of every inch of it.
