I am a wedding and elopement photographer in Washington, and the rentals started for an unglamorous reason. I kept watching brides spend four figures on a veil they wore for six hours and then folded into a closet.

The Mountain Song veil is 2.6 metres long, a little over eight feet, so it trails well past a full length gown. A large gold bird is embroidered with its wings open across the center of the train, ringed by green leafing vines and small gold blossoms that run all the way to the hem.

The Desert Rose veil is the same 2.6 metres. The embroidery is a desert night sky, with a gold sun and crescent moon medallion at the center of the train, gold rays fanning from it, and scattered stars, small moons and feathered fronds across the rest. It is made by hand in New Zealand.
Item 3: Candlelit Affairs candlestick holder rental

This is the price that keeps getting misread as a veil price. It is not. It is candlesticks, and they do not ship.

How the three day Rue de Seine veil rental works, start to finish
- You tell me your date and which veil you want. Two veils and one calendar means dates go first come, so earlier is better.
- I confirm the veil is free for your window.
- You pay the $350 rental and the damage deposit.
- I ship it to you, on me, timed to land before your three days start.
- You wear it.
- You ship it back inside the rental window. Return postage is on you.
- I check it over and release your deposit, less any damage or cleaning.
Your veil ships USPS Priority Mail 10 days before your wedding, so it is in your hands well ahead of the day.
Why rent a veil instead of buying one
Rue de Seine quotes eight to sixteen weeks to make a veil to order. If you are eloping in ten weeks, that is the whole conversation right there. And a veil is the one piece of the outfit almost nobody keeps wearing. The dress gets preserved or resold. The veil goes in a box.
Renting also lets you be braver. A dramatic veil is a lot of money to commit to when you have no idea how it photographs on you. At $350 it stops being a decision you need to be certain about.
Sizing, and whether a rented veil will fit your dress
Veils are the forgiving part of the outfit. No bust or waist to match, no alterations, no second fitting. It attaches with a comb, so the only real variable is length, and after that how it sits against your neckline.
Send me a photo of your dress when you inquire and I will tell you straight whether I think the veil works with it. I would rather talk you out of one than have it turn up wrong three days before you get married.

Items have to be returned in the same condition they were received. The candlesticks and the floral arch do not ship at all and are pickup only in Gold Bar, WA.
How far in advance should I reserve a veil?
You can reserve a veil up to 10 days before your wedding, but dates fill up, so the sooner the better.
