In 2022 I bought 2.5 acres in the high desert outside Joshua Tree and have been shaping it by hand ever since. It is on Airbnb now, rated 4.95, and it was built for one particular kind of guest: someone who needs to get somewhere quiet and actually make something.

Old western, new flair

The house is fully furnished with a full kitchen and bathroom, and there is a two person infrared sauna. Outside there are cactus gardens, a fire pit, and room to sleep under the stars if you would rather.

The dark sky is the point

The property is set back and fenced, well away from town lights, under one of the darkest skies in California. Most guests end up outside longer than they planned on the first night. The Milky Way is simply there.

Close enough to town

Joshua Tree National Park is 15 to 20 minutes away, and so are the shops and restaurants. You are remote without being stranded, which is the balance most desert stays get wrong in one direction or the other.
