The trip covered a proper stretch of the state: misty hikes through Mt. Rainier National Forest, the roar of Snoqualmie Falls, and quiet stretches of Snoqualmie National Forest that felt worlds away from the city. Seattle held down the urban side of things, while Central Washington’s open, sun-baked landscape offered a completely different kind of beautiful just a few hours east.

No August in Seattle is complete without Sea Fair, and watching the Blue Angels tear across the sky overhead is still one of those only-in-Seattle summer moments worth planning a trip around.
