Lindsey and John’s wedding almost didn’t happen the way they planned, and honestly, what happened instead was even better.
A wedding worth the wait
Because of COVID, Lindsey and John had to cancel and move their wedding from 2020 to 2021. A full year of waiting is no small thing, but when the day finally came at the Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, SC, it was absolutely stunning, and worth every bit of the delay. There’s something about a couple who waits a full year for their wedding day and still shows up glowing, patient, and more in love than ever. That was Lindsey and John.
The Magnolia Plantation
Their ceremony at the Magnolia Plantation struck this perfect balance of old Southern charm and modern ease. Having an elopement surrounded by family and friends in a small, intimate ceremony isn’t the most traditional route, but it made the day feel even more special. As they say, the more the merrier, and there’s something about exchanging vows with your closest people just steps away instead of rows back that makes the whole thing feel more intimate, not less.
Charleston: the perfect spot for a magical elopement
Lindsey was stunning in her dress, and the natural landscape of the plantation, all Spanish moss and grand old oaks, gave their photos a look you simply can’t recreate anywhere else. Charleston has this way of making every elopement feel like a scene out of a storybook, and Lindsey and John’s was no exception. Between the historic architecture and the light filtering through those ancient oaks, every corner of the property gave us something new to work with.
An elegant wedding photoshoot
Capturing every detail is one of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer. Couples spend so much time agonizing over the small stuff, the flowers, the dress, the little handwritten notes, but on the actual day it all goes by in a blur. Having a photographer there to catch the details you’ll only half-remember is what makes the difference between a nice wedding album and one you treasure for decades.
