Getting ready at Gadsden House

We spent the morning at Gadsden House, one of Charleston’s most beautiful historic properties, photographing three brides getting ready together — hair, makeup, gowns, and all the quiet, giddy energy that comes before a wedding day. The house’s soft light and elegant architecture gave us gorgeous backdrop after gorgeous backdrop without much effort at all.

There’s something about shooting getting-ready moments with more than one bride in the room — the energy multiplies, the laughter is louder, and there’s always someone reaching over to fix a strap or hand off a glass of champagne. It’s the kind of shoot that captures Charleston’s bridal scene at its best: elegant, historic, and just a little bit playful.
