I absolutely love shooting engagement photos in Charleston. Its a city with such rich history and no shortage of unique backdrops, but few spots beat the one Andrew and Kelly chose for their session.
Meeting at “the most beautiful tree in the world”
We met up at the Angel Oak Tree on a gorgeous afternoon, known to plenty of locals as the most beautiful tree in the world, and its easy to see why. This stunning piece of nature is thought to be 400 to 500 years old, stands 66.5 feet tall, has a circumference of 28 feet, and casts shade over roughly 17,200 square feet. Its longest branch stretches an incredible 187 feet from tip to tip. Standing beneath it, you understand instantly why it makes such a majestic photo location.
From ancient oaks to the coast of Johns Island
From the tree, we made our way to the coast of Johns Island for some rural, beachy vibes, a nice contrast to the towering oak canopy. Johns Island is just a stones throw from Charleston and home to plenty of water activities too, from fishing and kayaking to the occasional dolphin sighting.
Two people who were just fun to be around
Andrew and Kelly were so easy and fun to spend the afternoon with, and that energy carried through every frame we captured together.
