I met Ashley and Madison a while back when we explored Charleston together for their engagement photos, so I already knew the kind of light and energy this city could give us. Getting the call to be part of their big day was one of those career moments that never gets old.
A magical evening at Magnolia Plantation
We spent their wedding evening at Magnolia Plantation, one of Charleston's most storied venues, with its live oaks and Spanish moss doing exactly what they do best — setting a scene no studio backdrop could ever match. Between the golden light filtering through the trees and two people who were clearly, obviously in love, it was an easy night to fall in love with my job all over again.
There's a certain kind of light you only get in the Lowcountry in the evening — warm, a little hazy, filtering through centuries-old trees like it's been doing it forever. We chased that light through the gardens between formal portraits, catching quiet moments between Ashley and Madison and stealing a few more frames than we probably needed to, just because the setting was that good. By the time the reception got going under string lights, the whole evening felt less like a wedding shoot and more like watching two people I already adored start their next chapter.
