Arriving by boat has a way of building anticipation, and watching Santorini’s caldera rise out of the Aegean as the ferry pulled in was worth the trip on its own. There’s something about seeing those whitewashed cliffs for the first time from the water that no photo quite prepares you for.
Three days exploring by ATV
I spent three days on the island exploring by ATV with the wonderful people I’d met earlier in my travels, weaving along cliffside roads between whitewashed villages, blue-domed churches, and endless caldera views. It’s the kind of island that photographs itself, but the light at golden hour over the water is what really makes it unforgettable.
