Valentina & Alex: A Sunrise Engagement Session in Brooklyn

I visited New York City to photograph two beautiful souls, Valentina and Alex, and we started the day the best way possible: watching the sun come up over the Brooklyn Bridge.

There is nothing quite like the Brooklyn Bridge at sunrise. The city is still quiet, the light is soft and golden, and for a few minutes it almost feels like you have all of New York to yourselves. Valentina and Alex leaned into that stillness, and it made for some of my favorite frames of the morning.

Urban Portraits Through Brooklyn

From the bridge, we made our way down into Brooklyn for a change of pace: brick backdrops, city light, and a more relaxed, editorial energy. Valentina, a working NYC model, wore a bridal romper from Schone Bride, worth a look if you are a non-traditional bride wanting something different from the usual gown.

An Engagement Session With City Energy

Sessions like this one are proof that engagement photos do not have to follow the same script everywhere. Sometimes the best backdrop is a sunrise bridge and a few quiet Brooklyn blocks, and the two of them made it look effortless the whole morning. There is a rhythm to shooting in a city that big this early, just a handful of joggers and delivery trucks for company, and it changes the whole feel of the photos.
