I met these two rad, married individuals in Portland, Oregon, and we spent an evening shooting near Mt. Hood.
There’s something about the light near Mt. Hood in the last hour before sunset — soft, golden, and made for exactly this kind of session. We caught the sunset together, took in the sweeping mountain views, and let the couple get real close and cozy while the sky did most of the work.
Sometimes the best sessions don’t need an elaborate plan — just good light, a gorgeous backdrop, and two people who are comfortable with each other. That’s exactly what this one was: easy, warm, and full of genuine connection against one of the Pacific Northwest’s most iconic mountains.
If you’re in the Portland area and want a portrait session built around golden hour and a great view, I’d love to help you plan one near Mt. Hood.

The areas around Mt. Hood offer sweeping mountain views and gorgeous golden-hour light, making them one of my favorite spots for portrait sessions near Portland.
A sunset-focused portrait session typically runs about an hour, timed around golden hour for the best light.
