A Downtown Charleston Engagement Session with Brandon & Kathleen
Some engagement sessions feel like a warm-up for the wedding day, and this one was exactly that — a golden afternoon wandering downtown Charleston with two people who are clearly just easy together.
Starting on Chalmers Street
Brandon and Kathleen chose to start their session on Chalmers Street, a spot that holds real meaning for the two of them. It’s one of Charleston’s most photogenic corners — cobblestones underfoot, historic homes on either side, the kind of street that does half the work for you as a photographer.
Wandering the side streets
From there we just followed our feet, ducking down side streets and stopping wherever the light or the architecture caught our eye. That’s usually how my favorite engagement sessions go — less posing, more wandering until something feels right.
Why Charleston is made for engagement photos
Between the cobblestone streets, wrought-iron gates, and the particular way the light filters through the historic district, Charleston is one of my favorite cities to shoot in. It rewards photographers and couples willing to slow down and just wander, which is exactly what Brandon and Kathleen were up for.
