An engagement photoshoot is fun and exciting, but it is so much more than that: it is one of the first mile markers on your elopement or wedding journey, and something you will want to look back on for years to come. Chase and Mitch were an absolute joy to photograph, and I am so excited for what is next in their story.
Charleston is a fantastic city for engagement photos, really, for any photos. It is beautiful, and everyone there is wonderfully friendly. We did not shoot Chase and Mitch’s session inside the city itself, but out in the surrounding areas, which gave us even more room to play with light and location, open fields, quiet backroads, and softer, more natural backdrops than a crowded downtown street.
Charleston proper is vibrant and full of energy, but the surrounding areas are just as great, which gives couples plenty of choices for their session. I know the area well and have a running list of the best Charleston photo spots for every kind of couple, whether you want moody and dramatic light or something bright and breezy.
One of the biggest reasons engagement photography is so valuable is that it is your chance to actually meet your wedding photographer beforehand. It lets you build a trustworthy rapport and gives you complete confidence going into your wedding day, and it helps me get to know you and what you like, too, how you move together, how you laugh, what makes you both relax in front of a camera.
Whether you are looking for an engagement session like Chase and Mitch, or you need someone for your wedding day, I am your Charleston, SC photographer; I would love the chance to capture all of your moments together. Let us get to know each other, click below and just say hi.

Not necessarily, Chase and Mitch’s session was shot in the areas surrounding Charleston, which gave us more variety in scenery and light than downtown alone.
An engagement session is a great low-pressure way to meet your wedding photographer, build rapport, and get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day.
Charleston and its surrounding areas offer everything from historic streets to marshland and open fields; I have a running list of favorite spots depending on the vibe you are going for.
