Our Zermatt women’s retreat gathered a small group of women in a cozy chalet looking straight at the Matterhorn, and gave each day a balance of creativity, slowness, and quiet exploring.
Mornings were unhurried. We wrote, guided by Kat Short, letting thoughts take shape without pressure or a red pen hovering over them. Across the week we worked through the elements, air, fire, water, and earth, using art and reflection: making paper by hand, pressing flowers, writing poems (many of us for the first time in decades), and sealing our work with wax to carry home as something real.
The rest of each day had its own rhythm. Walks through Zermatt, shared Swiss fondue dinners, an afternoon at a spa looking out over the alps, and conversations that stretched easily into the night.
This retreat was never about being a writer. It was about reconnecting with the part of you that once created freely, without judgment. The part that is still there, just waiting for a little space to come back to life.
Writing weeks like this one travel with us. The next long trip is our Iceland women’s retreat.

In a cozy chalet overlooking the Matterhorn in Zermatt, Switzerland, with the village and the Swiss Alps right outside the door.
Guided morning writing with Kat Short, hands-on art through the four elements (making paper, pressing flowers, poetry, and wax sealing), walks in Zermatt, Swiss fondue dinners, and a spa afternoon in the alps.
Not at all. This is for anyone who wants to reconnect with their creativity. Most people had not written in years, and that was exactly the point.
Yes. I run and photograph small women’s and creative retreats like this one. If you want to join one or plan your own, reach out any time.
Late winter into early spring is magic, with snow on the peaks and the Matterhorn front and center. We went in March and it was perfect.
If you have been looking for a creative women’s retreat, a small group trip with real people and room to make things, or a photographer to come document one, this is the kind of thing I love being part of. Tell me what you have in mind and we will figure it out together.
